“Sustainable Landscapes for Sustainable Livelihoods” is the topic of this year’s PEFC Forest Certification Week, (14 – 18 November 2016) the annual meeting of the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification, the world’s leading forest certification system.
How can trees best contribute to lifting people out of poverty? What is the role of forests in meeting the needs of the world’s growing population without jeopardizing our planet’s natural capital? How can we enhance and safeguard the benefits of the numerous products and services forests provide?
These are the some of the issues that stakeholders from all over the world will explore during the two-day Stakeholder Dialogue (17/18 November), the main public event of the PEFC Forest Certification Week. The Stakeholder Dialogue will provoke exchange amongst participants to advance how sustainable forestry and forest certification can contribute beyond traditional boundaries to deliver on ambitious global commitments. The event will explore how forest certification can expand in various dimensions to further its impact in promoting sustainable landscapes where trees deliver maximum positive impacts to people and the environment.
